Texas Gulf Coast Fishing

Here are the photos you’ve been waiting for!! Texas fishing. 1 week, 8 guys, 2 boats and somewhat agreeable weather (82F). The only casualty was me taking a bungee to the face when we were packing up. What would a fishing trip be without a head injury?!?

Fishing in Port O’Connor

I’m currently in Port O’Connor with old friends fishing. This little town makes its living from the fishing industry. It’s only day 3 and we’ve caught some bonnethead shark, whiting, sheepshead, gafftop and mackerel. Some of the guys have landed some Reds and Jacks. We’re still chasing the big ones;) Here’s a couple of teasers…

Logan’s 8th Birthday

Saturday we held Logan’s 8th birthday. The house had 9 kids running around out of control until the food came out! Terri customized a cake with a marshmallow snake to fit with the reptile theme. After dinner we brought in Ethan from The Traveling Reptile Show (www.hamiltonreptile.com). It was an interactive experience with the kids and Ethan was fantastic (just ask for the guy with the pink shoes)! Among the reptiles was a scorpion, 2 snakes, turtles and an alligator. The kids all had turns touching, feeling and holding the reptiles…here are a few shots from the days activities…

Niagara Aviary

This past Family Day we spent the day with good friends (the Fiorelli’s) in Niagara Falls. After visiting the Aviary we checked into the Skyline Inn and then took the kids to the 3 acre indoor water park. We neglected to tell our kids where we were going but we did tell them they were getting a day off school. When they walked through the door and saw the 8 water slides their mouths hit the floor! We spent a couple of hours there and then headed back for pizza and a movie. The adults went to the Casino for a couple of hours. I spent $20 on Blackjack and was up to $245 but like most people in a casino thought I could do better….I left without my $20. The next day we went back to the Water park and spent another couple of hours on the slides. After that we finished with some mini putt and bumper cars. After a long couple of days we made our way home. Here are some images from the Aviary.

It was the guys weekend…

This past weekend was spent with some great friends in a small cabin in Baysville. We had all the comforts of home. A projection screen running off a generator, a refrigerator that froze food, A fireplace for warmth and an outhouse for comfort! Beyond the usual social drinks there was good conversation, poker, movies and hiking. Here are a few photos from the guys weekend…

Pumpkin Carving Time!

Today was spent cleaning out the garage so that I have room to work on the bike in the winter. With that I finally got around to getting our 10 month old treadmill out of its box, assembled and operational. The kids have been on it nonstop. That is, after they finished carving part of their costumes for Halloween. I took this as an opportunity to practice some off camera flash.

November Ride…19C 7 hours

It was cold on the bike this morning but not 2C. It must have been closer to 10C. Nic and I headed to Lindsay to meet up with Scott and Rod. It seemed like every road we turned down was under construction. After flying down some muddy roads we hit some soft gravel. Eventually we ended up back on pavement. Once we hit Lindsay we loaded up on food at Timmies and headed to Bobcaygeon and then to Fenlon Falls. Scott’s new bike is quite impressive. Lucky for us neither one is competitive so we managed to ride at the posted speed limits ;) Yeah right! From Fenlon Falls we headed through Kinmount to Gelert and up to Haliburton. Filled up with gas and then down to Gooderham. Next was the most radical 507. Another impressive ride…..

The 4 of us managed to stay out of jail for another day :) It was an awesome day of riding. Over 400km. Not a bad day away from the office!

Renos continue…

Well it’s been busy around the house since the last ride. The room in the garage is now as complete as can be (until Terri starts moving things in). I have moved on to Nathan’s bedroom. Although everything came to a halt until I find some more room in the house to store stuff from the office soon to be Nathan’s room. Once we find where to put everything I can gut the room and start the rebuilding process.

We are currently looking to head out for a ride Wednesday as the temperature is supposed to be 18C. Should be a little warmer than the last ride at 2C.

A Cold Fall Ride – October ‘08

It was 2 Celcius when I left the house this morning at 9:30 but well worth getting on the bike for. Neil, Rod and I met up in Port Perry and continued our trek to Bridgenorth and then on to see fellow rider Scott who at the moment is bikeless (however will be taking delivery of an ‘02 Honda 1100XX Blackbird on Tuesday…sweet).

Our travels then took us to Highway 507. This is what we came for. Approximately 45km of twisties with barely any traffic! We could barely contain ourselves. A spirited ride to the end left us wanting more. We decided to turn around and head back for one last ride. It was nice to have my tires rounded again!

The sun was dropping fast and since it only reached 13C I thought it best to head home. 2 hours later I was shivering at home. A hot shower and my core temperature was almost back to normal! All this was worth it for what might have been the last ride of the season.
